this is a cheap film, it's totally insane and impossible, it's a bit campy, but it is intelligent and that makes it actually a good sharp slasher.
a psychologist, moves into his new house and goes to his new hospital job to find a very weird and insane head psychiatrist, Leo (Donald Pleasance) who refuses to use any guards apart from an electric fence even for his murderous and dangerous patients. One night Frank (Jack Palance) decides that Dr. Potter, that is the psychologist guy, has killed the previous doctor to steal his position and then the 4 criminal patients decide they must kill him. in the meantime the doctor's slightly balmy sister moves in with the family, which is a good thing because she takes them to some pretty cool gig by the Sick Fucks, singing Chop chop chop chop, chop up your mother! and well, everyone seems to behaving fun with her. in the meantime the one lunatic creates this massive power blackout and so the 4 dtermined to kill break out while havoc reigns everywhere. well, first they murder the babysitter who is having sex, because these damn babysitters they never wanna learn that they are not supposed to have sex when in a horror film! anyhow, they are on the loose and in the end the family ends up trapped in the house and blah blah.
now what i liked was how this family never actually annoyed me like they usually do! and this ugly little girl, man finally someone smart and fast on the good guys' side! then all in all i liked the nosebleeding character thing, which wasnt too obvious to me in the beginning and the mental health questioning as well as the dark humour.
it's one of those surprisingly well rounded, utterly enjoyable, and pretty unknown 80s horror films that you totally have to watch!
